Welcome!

Welcome to my blog!

This is a place to share my many ideas, (along with a story or two), about party planning from the theme to the thank you note, organization from your closets to your kid's artwork, and home decor, from wall color to window treatments. I have a passion for graphic design, fine art, photography, interior design and a great party! Creativity and the visually aesthetic get my juices flowing and I hope this blog can be a place to have fun exchanging ideas and resources and help your creative juices flow too!

Enjoy!

Put on your Yarmulke, it's Time for Hanukkah!

I was the first Jewish friend one of my college roommates ever had and when Hanukkah rolled around, she wished me a happy "Chaka Kahn" (it was the late '80's).  Another one of my roommates (whom I recall also didn't have any Jewish friends) started wishing me a happy "Chucka-Nucka".  Both versions still make me chuckle over twenty years later.  Then, in 1994, came "The Chanukah Song" by Adam Sandler and what pop-culture following American between the ages of 18-50 doesn't think of it every time the holiday rolls around?
I started this post because I was considering hosting my first Hanukkah party for my daughter's Hebrew School but decided that it would be too much to deal with if I want to maintain my pleasing personality.  She doesn't have a large class but they all have at least one sibling and it would be on a school night and we're leaving two days later for vacation and the thought of it was starting to give me ajeda.  Maybe next year....  For now, I'll just make one of the treats in this post (I'm thinkin' the Martha Stewart Chocolate Marshmallow Dreidles) for her class to enjoy.
That said, if you're thinking of hosting a Hanukkah gathering of some kid this year or just want some delicious nosh recipes and thematic dessert ideas for your own small family celebration, here are some resources:

Oh, and for any of you who don't know or need a refresher on how to play the dreidel game, here's quick video explanation: Dreidel 101

Happy Hanukkah, Chaka Kahn and Chucka-Nucka to all!

  1. I love the martha stewart (like she knows from hanukkah? ) glittered dreidel thing! I may need to stock up at Target this week and fill one of my apothecary jars !

I have to say, BabyCakes are AWESOME and I don't have to fry in the house!

  2. Aren't they festive? If you do them, email me a pic! What are BabyCakes? I guess I could just Google them :) Yah, the oil-splattering, frying is the a downside to latke making....but so worth it!
